Understanding the Pension System for Developmental Disabilities
First, there are several types of pension systems. The main one applicable to people with developmental disabilities is the "Disability Pension." This is a public benefit that can be received when it is difficult to work due to illness or disability. Disability pensions come in two types: the National Pension and the Employees' Pension Insurance, and the application methods and eligibility conditions differ depending on which pension system you are enrolled in.
In the case of developmental disabilities, the severity of symptoms and the impact on daily life are important criteria for judgment. For example, if conditions such as difficulty with communication, inability to maintain concentration, or impairment in social functioning are recognized, there is a possibility of qualifying for a disability pension.
Additionally, disability pensions are not determined solely by the disease name. They are determined by comprehensively evaluating the doctor's diagnosis, the situation of daily life, employment status, and other factors.
